Plastics News’ CEO Issue features Andrew Thompson
Andrew Thompson was nominated by Inhance Technologies’ Senior Vice President of Research and Development, Prakash Iyer, to be featured in the yearly Plastics News CEO Issue which highlights top industry executives making positive changes in their organizations.
Thompson entered the plastics industry as a research scientist for Arco Chemical Co. and became CEO of Inhance Technologies in 2012. His first major goal was “to focus the organization to think more strategically regarding sustainable offerings and geographical expansions.” Not only is he focused on environmental impact, Thompson has also been integral in growing Inhance Technologies; in March of 2021 the company moved its St. Louis operations to a new facility, doubling production capacity and creating new jobs in the area.
When asked how the pandemic has affected business, Thompson shared that the company is stronger than ever. Having to inspect what was mission critical, Inhance Technologies was able to invent new processes while retiring outdated ones and establish workarounds with creativity and resolve. “I am so proud of our people, globally, who worked through the pandemic – their resilience and dedication to our customers and critical supply chain partners was truly inspiring” stated Thompson.
In the nine years since he became CEO, Thompson has accomplished a lot but also has more expectations for the company. He’d like his legacy to be summed up by transformation, taking a small local business and turning it into a global leader in sustainable plastic technologies. As we wrap up 2021 and enter 2022, Thompson will continue to advocate for more recyclable plastics and tighter regulations to reduce emissions, increase sustainability, and encourage a more circular economy.
